DAY 1: ANNAPOLIS ROYAL (45MIN) The Historic Gardens comprises several themed gardens representing different periods in Nova Scotia's history. La Maison Acadienne et Potager shows an early French settler's dwelling, the Governor's Garden is reminiscent of the period following 1710, while the Victorian Garden reflects the prosperous days of shipbuilding and vigourous trade of the 19th century. The themed gardens are linked by paths through other display areas including several plant collections, the largest being the Rose Collection which displays more than 230 cultivars in their historical context. |

DAY 3: WHALE WATCHING (1h) Each cruise is an opportunity to observe first hand some of the largest and rarest animals that have ever lived. We are here to observe and record their behavior, not to harass them. They are wild animals in their natural environment. Fantastic displays or close approaches to the boat are special moments, but are entirely up to the whales. You can expect to see any or all of the following species of whale: Humpback Whale, Fin Whale, Minke Whale, and the rare North Atlantic Right Whale. The Right Whale was hunted nearly to extinction back in the whaling days and still only has a population of less than 300 animals. Over half of that population comes to the Bay of Fundy each summer. |

DAY 5: PEGGY'S COVE (2h) Peggy's Cove may well be the most photographed location in Canada. It is a small picturesque fishing village (population 120) that surrounds a narrow ocean inlet which provides safe haven for boats during the Atlantic's rough weather. A lighthouse built on the large smooth wave washed granite rocks is the crowning feature of this beautiful Atlantic cove. A large parking area has been blended in near the lighthouse for visitor access and during mild weather, you can walk over the huge boulders to enjoy the splendid view in all directions. |
DAY 6: TIDAL BORE (1h) Tidal Bores occur when tide water entering a river or stream is compacted and forced into narrower and shallower waters. This causes the tide water to build on itself until it forms into a wave flowing over the outgoing water. After exploring the Evangeline Trail, visitors usually head east toward Amherst on the Glooscap Trail-Highway #215. The town of Windsor is well situated at the crossroads of both the Evangeline and Glooscap Trails. A pamphlet Fundy Shore Eco Tour helps to explain what natural and ecological attractions the Glooscap Trail has to offer. Days can be spent searching for fossils, semiprecious stones, mineral rocks and watching the tidal bore. |

DAY 7: CAPE SPLIT (40min) Perhaps the most awesome display of the tides on our planet occurs at Cape Split, on the southern side of the entrance to Minas Basin (Cape Split may be reached by a pleasant two-hour walk along a popular hiking trail from the village of Scots Bay, which is a 30-minute drive north of Wolfville). Here at the time of the mid-point of an incoming tide, for a considerable distance the forest on the towering cliffs is filled with a hollow roar produced by the turbulence of the waters surging over the submarine ridges below. The currents exceed 8 knots (4m/s), and the flow in the deep, 5 km-wide channel on the north side of Cape Split equals the combined flow of all the streams and rivers of Earth (about 4 cubic kilometres per hour). Three hours later the spectacle pauses, and then begins flowing in the opposite direction. (www.valleyweb.com) |

DAY 9: LUNENBURG (1.5h) The Town of Lunenburg, in Nova Scotia, Canada, was formally established in 1753 as the first British Colonial settlement in Nova Scotia outside of Halifax. These early settlers were from various parts of Germany, Switzerland, and the Montbeliard region of France. What a place to visit. Its like being in Nova Scotia 200 years ago. This is where our famous Blue Nose schooner was built. Its on the back of our 10 cent piece. There are so many things to see and do there. Tons of art galleries, restaurants and souvenir shops. |
